This is a collection of all the remixes, reworks and covers I made as Jasper TX between 2007-2011. Some of these have already been released and some was never released for various reasons. They are presented here in a backwards chronological order as to how they were released. The unreleased tracks are presented in relation to when I made them. I’m not sure why but it made some kind of sense to me at least.

The remixes and covers presented here are what they are. Some I got paid to do, but most of them I made just for the fun of it. Making remixes has always been sort of a breather to me. Don’t get me wrong, I put just as much effort and energy into making remixes or covers as I do making my own tracks. But there’s something very liberating in using sounds that other people have recorded. The thing is, when you record your own stuff, you know the hard labor put into getting things right, but when someone just drops a bunch on wav stems in your lap it’s a blank canvas and you’re free to use, abuse or discard sounds as you please. And there’s something very appealing about destruction… A few times when I have presented the remix the artist in question has been disappointed that the original composition is no longer visible in the track I have made. And they are of course right; sometimes I just keep a piano line, sometimes just a fraction of a string arrangement. But this is the only way I know how to make music: to just let it go wherever it needs to go.

These versions are all unmastered and may therefore vary a bit in volume. I might get them all mastered at some point, but I just felt I wanted to present them as they are now.
